Undertale is literally so shitty but you all just brush it away saying “everybody just dislikes anything popular” like Fucking no. People dislike shit that steals from other games, is racist, pedophilic, and lesbophobic. The game literally takes maps and monsters from off and redesigns them and makes them look absolutely terrible. Not to mention the battle system that is stolen from earthbound but made incredibly boring so the creators coudlnt be yelled at for stealing. The game is racist as hell with shitty skeleton jokes and having a native totem that speaks broken english. Its also pedophilic due to the main being a young girl that can be in love with much much older characters. Also the lesbian couple that everybody loves is literally so shitty but you all will take any kind of representation even if its terrible. The girls in the couple are mysogynistic stereotypes with how they “talk dumb” (ie. saying like a lot) and making them a couple as a joke is not fucking representation. And the humor is just shitty skeleton jokes and annoying dialouge. You all hate skeleton war jokes and yet love a game that makes so many its almost suffocating. In short the game is basically everything that tumblr loves. Racism, lesbophobia, pedophilia, and fucking annoying humor

There are also item descriptions with random japanese words slipped in and a cactus being referred to with “tsundere” and shit, which is very weeaboo. There is a gay sassy robot character which is a homophobic stereotype saying that all gay guys are sassy. The robot is also a drag queen, which is very transmisogynistic. The genocide ending is disgusting, as you make the young girl character into a serial killer. A chracter in the game is based on a homestuck character, and that character is a black stereotype

i’m having a fucking unbelievably hard time trying to decipher whether this post is ironic or not, this is honestly giving me a headache

um

• first of all you didn’t even get the protagonist’s gender right, the protagonist is your typical blank slate but is most canonically/officially a male named Frisk. Not really a huge important discrepancy but if you can’t even get that right how can I expect you to actually have any other information correct 
  
• I cannot remember any map designs taken from Off. counting basic corriders would be stupid
  
• The battle system is built around the choice between fighting and sparing and that’s not earthbound at all
• what the fuck do skeletons have to do with racism
• what totem is native
• there is never explicit statements of love between the character and any of the other main characters. (spoilers) Toriel/Asgore have parental sentiments, Papyrus values having a friend and the he doesn’t actually understand what it means to date literally exclaiming that he did not wish to lead you on and that no serious feelings blossomed, Alphys may seem like a creep but Mettaton explains how she mainly wanted to feel useful in life so she purposefully inserted herself into your struggle to break through the barrier (she actually crushes on undyne/asgore sort of, not you at all)
• You’d have to go into more detail as to why undyne/alphys is shitty but somehow I don’t think you have the capacity to do that because I’m pretty sure you’ve never played the game
• who…fucking cares about how the couple talk. Also did you assume they were the lesbian couple? because…that’s never discussed at all ever.
• Mettaton’s gender or sexuality is never discussed. Mettaton is simply very flamboyant/wants to entertain, and even the presentation of MTTEX is not necessarily male or female, in fact you’re the one who made all those assumptions based off those traits.
• oh a fish character who is a girl, must be a ripoff of another character who is racially stererotyped (and like meenah is definitely a black stereotype but saying undyne is based off meenah is a real reach)
• “the genocide ending is disgusting” what on god’s green earth do you expect from “The Genocide Ending”
  

and I understand the desire to look out for shitty things in media but you cannot go about it making so many assumptions that it’s clear to anyone who has even touched the game that you’ve never played it that nothing you say is actually even true and yet you want to say everyone who likes it is shitty (when consumption of problematic media for personal reasons while understanding it has concerning flaws is totally acceptable and kind of…mandatory if you want to enjoy anything ever). That’s not productive or helpful to anyone.

like I don’t mean to write all this out just to defend undertale; that’d be enormously stupid. My point here is that you really ought to stop doing this, I’m sure you’d make another post like this for the next thing that catches your attention the way undertale did. Not only is it shitty to anyone who recognizes issues with any media but, you know, likes to enjoy things in life, to just immediately brand them as shitty and equally bigoted/fucked up as whatever media you’re condemning…but if you feel the need to do that you should at least have A Single Fact right and you practically got everything wrong.
